Autumn time is the best time for moving animals to one other territory. In General mother animals have given birth months ago, and if necessary can be moved together with their youngster.  Yearlings; „foals and calves of the year before” are big enough now to be separated from the mother animal, and there is still time to get used to their new situation before the harshness of winter has to be overcome.

Every year around this time animals have to be moved from one territory to one other. Reasons can be various, the most common reasons are; the territory is getting overgrazed and animals need to be taken out, young mares and stallions are naturally driven out of their mother herd and the territory is not big enough for two separate herds. Young herds have to keep out of sight from the big herd and if the territory is not big enough these animals are simply driven over the fence!

The first territory from where two young mares where caught and moved this autumn is „Laures” (near Kapsēde). Luckily in the nearby territory Elčuki (Medzes) there still was enough room for two young Ladies, and they didn’t have to travel fare! On the Picture the territory owners Edmunds and Ilma are welcoming them.
